Murray Weinstock's Tails of the City has a Tale for All Philly Dogs

Make No Bones About It -- Murray Weinstock's songs from a dog's point of view make a good treat for dogs and their people. Carnivale For The Dogs Marches Into The City of Brotherly Love.

Philadelphia, (PRWEB) November 4, 2005 -- Murray Weinstock & The Bow Wow Band will be playing songs from the Dog CD, "Tails of the City." It's just one of the treats at the •Commerce Doggie Bar• to be held Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Rittenhouse Square Park.
Visit www.dogtunes.com for more info or to hear song samples.

Weinstock's whimsical CD featured in the New York Daily News, the San Francisco Chronicle and Billboard magazine contains a dozen original songs that address pressing life issues such as what's for dinner, how best to while away a lazy afternoon and what it’s like to be bad to the bone—all from a canine point of view. And with a little help from his friends, Dr John, Phoebe Snow, NRBQ and John Sebastian, to name a few.

Weinstock, a fixture on the New York City music scene whose work includes collaborations with Manhattan Transfer, Esther Phillips, Richie Havens, Don Covay, Buddy Miles and Kenny Vance & the Planotones, says the CD grew out of a 15-year love affair with his late dachshund Sparky.

"It came out of just hanging out with Sparky, trying to express musically what was going through his mind as he sniffed his way around Manhattan," he said.

Weinstock "borrowed" the title for the CD from San Francisco author Armistead Maupin, whose Tales of the City was the basis for the Showtime miniseries of the same name. In fact, when Weinstock sent a copy of his Tails to Maupin, the writer liked it so much he responded: "I've been playing Tails of the City every morning, bouncing around the house with Sophie, my Australian shepherd mix, who identifies with your work completely. And thanks for paying tribute to my own work this way." Lots of treats guaranteed!
