The World's Most Unique Holiday Gift

Ghostwriter and owner of WriterForYou.com suggests giving from the inside this holiday season by producing a book for loved ones ... which needn't be difficult or expensive.

Rochester, MI (PRWEB) November 1, 2005 -- A diamond ring, a trip to Paris, and a new car all qualify as expensive gifts. The first two might even qualify as top romantic gifts. But in the end, nothing is quite so unique as what comes from inside a person. That's why one professional writer is promoting books as a holiday gift idea.

"I know there are a lot of people looking at our current approach to holiday giving and wondering about alternatives," says Steve McCardell, ghostwriter and owner of WriterForYou.com. "I don't think you could give anything as meaningful as a book of your own."

I don't think you could give anything as meaningful as a book of your own.
McCardell points out that books don't have to be long or even perfectly written to make a meaningful holiday gift, and they don't have to be very expensive to produce either. Most people, he suggests, have stories about their families that they could write, and these can be printed inexpensively and in low quantities with technology called Print On Demand (POD).

He notes two popular companies providing POD services: Cafe Press (www.cafepress.com) and Instant Publisher (www.instantpublisher.com).

Those interested in producing something more professionally written can either develop a book themselves and have it edited or work with a ghostwriter from the beginning. "A lot of people have the means to hire a writer to assist them and they have the desire to write a book," says McCardell, "but they may not realize that someone else can do the job for them."

This year, McCardell himself is providing a holiday service of writing a book and getting it into print ... all before Christmas. But because he can only accept one order for this service, he offers some advice on finding a ghostwriter.

"Quality writing is an obvious must, and if you can't judge writing for yourself, ask someone you trust. But compatibility is also important. Look for someone you connect with who has a genuine interest in your project."

McCardell provides a free series of articles called "Choosing a Ghostwriter" on his website at www.writerforyou.com.
