Poker Rookie Checks Out Of Hospital and Into the Caribbean Poker Classic

Gene, a 38 year old financial analyst with only four months of poker experience, will be one of the lucky players competing in the Caribbean Poker Classic (CPC) in St. Kitts this November. Gene defeated just 12 opponents in a CPC free roll sponsored by leading online poker guide PokerListings.com (pokerlistings.com) and top poker room InterPoker (interpoker.com) to take home the first place prize package worth $10,000.

A poker player for only four months, Gene should truly serve as an inspiration for all players looking to make their poker dreams a reality, especially once news breaks of his preparations for the qualifying tournament.

“I was not really confident of doing well. I had just come out of the hospital and was not feeling too great. I was surprised to see how few people entered the tournament and that gave me more hope,” said Gene.

The 38 year old flopped a set of 2’s in the final hand to secure his place in the Caribbean Poker Classic. In total, only 13 players participated in the free roll hosted by PokerListings.com (http://www.pokerlistings.com) and InterPoker (http://www.interpoker.com), a sensationally low number considering the value of the prize up for grabs. But opportunities like this are not as uncommon as you might think, as David Williams, senior editor at PokerListings.com, reveals, “PokerListings.com offers several packages like this every month. And our free rolls always boast top value, meaning that few people actually show up for game day.”

Gene, who lives in Memphis, Tennessee with his wife and two sons, certainly tries to take advantage of the promotions at PokerListings.com. “It’s the best poker information site on the Internet. I review it daily for the latest offers, tournament details, and even poker tips. I really like the new look and feel of the site,” he revealed.

The Caribbean Poker Classic will be played in St Kitts from November 25th until December 4th, and Gene will do his best to be successful once again. Despite his win and his poker playing schedule, which includes 2 hours daily on weekdays and 5-6 hours on weekends, his ambitions remain modest.

“I am hoping to do well and have fun. I haven’t played much at "live" tables so it will be a new experience. I would be delighted to just finish in the money!”
