Worldwide Assistance Medical Director a Featured Speaker at “The Global Clinic: Healthcare Management for Physician Executives”
Focus on medical evacuations and repatriations as part of educational course sponsored by Harvard Medical School and the Partners HealthCare System
Washington DC (PRWEB) November 3, 2005 -- On November 9, 2005, Eugene Delaune, MD will present “International Medical Evacuations and Repatriations: A Review of Civilian and Military Options for Transporting Patients” as a member of the Guest Faculty of the Global Clinic course organized by Partners HealthCare and sponsored by the Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education.
Dr. Delaune’s international background and expertise in both the civilian and military medical spheres give him a unique perspective on the proper methods, techniques and modern realities of aeromedical transportation. With the globe-spanning nature of business transactions and employee movement, his presentation is an integral component of the three day Global Clinic course on international healthcare management for physician executives held November 7-9 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Delaune currently serves as the Medical Director for the Region of Europ Assistance including its US office, Worldwide Assistance, as well as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, and South Africa. He is also a full time emergency physician and Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
In 2003, Dr. Delaune served on active duty in the US Air Force for 4 months, stationed at the Baghdad airport in charge of all medical evacuations out of the war zone. Dr. Delaune has state medical licenses in Florida, Louisiana, Maryland and Washington, DC. Certifications include Advanced Cardiac and Pediatric Advanced Live Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, as well as a course in Aircraft Mishap Investigation and Prevention and Space Shuttle landing support for NASA.
He earned a Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University in 1991, completed his Transitional Year Residency at Tulane University in 1992, and did his Emergency Medicine Residency at the George Washington University from 1998 to 2001. He worked as a flight surgeon for the US Air Force from 1995 to 1997 (Ramstein Air Base, Germany) and subsequently as a Contract Physician for the United States Army from 1997 to 1998, and has been IMA Physician at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland since 1999.
