Fairfield, OH (PRWEB) November 4, 2005 -- Journey Stone Creations, LLC today announced their newest book, Stranger Danger. This book creates a meaningful way for parents (and grandparents) to talk to their children about personal safety. The book will reach store shelves before Thanksgiving.

Patricia Stirnkorb, author and president of Journey Stone Creations said “The reluctantly written, but absolutely necessary, book for today’s boys and girls is designed to allow children and parents to talk about this important subject." In a rhyming verse, children will learn that saying “No!” to strangers, acquaintances or even people in authority positions is okay. According to statistics from the Department of Justice, every nine minutes in America a child is kidnapped by someone other than a family member.

Teaching children to be assertive and self reliant is a major step in protecting them from stranger danger. This book emphasizes the approach of running away, going to get help and telling their parents or another adult in charge. It also clearly identifies the fact that Stranger Danger also includes people they do know. For example one verse tells them:
“If your sister’s friend wants in the door,
Though he is someone you’ve seen before,
If you are alone, just tell him “NO!”
Don’t let him in! And please don’t go!

Ms. Stirnkorb said “After having our first grandchild, I decided we needed a book about this topic. I couldn’t find anything on the subject geared to a young child, so I wrote one. This is imperative material for parents to discuss with their children.” Alerting children to be cautious about strangers and acquaintences, is not the only approach to their safety, however it is an important first step.

A CD is included in the book with an upbeat and catchy tune of the same name written by James Pentaudi and performed by Daniel Prior. In addition, in the back of the book is a Parent’s Guide with statistics and safety tips.
