Wendy Loomis' new musical work "Poem of Innocence" will have its world premiere by Flock of Flutes, the San Francisco Bay Area's only flute choir.
(PRWEB) November 7, 2005 -- Wendy Loomis' new work "Poem of Innocence" will have its world premiere by Flock of Flutes, the San Francisco Bay Area's only flute choir. The premier will be part of Flock's fall concert on Sunday November 20, 2005 at 3 PM at the Shadelands Dance Studio, 111 N. Wiget Lane (at Ygnacio Valley Blvd) in Walnut Creek, California. Loomis' group Phoenix Rising recently released "Whispers" on Delvian Records.
"Poem of Innocence" was written by Loomis especially for the Flock and includes C flutes plus alto and bass flute parts. Throughout the work, dates are spoken that precede tragic events in the world with the latest date being September 10, 2001. "The piece ends with hope for a better future," says Flock of Flute's director Monica Williams, who also did the arrangement for the piece. Williams has played with symphonies in the Bay Area, Rochester, Cincinnati and Chicago.
A program of Civic Arts Education, Flock of Flutes offers a unique opportunity to hear a variety of flutes combing innovative musical styles. In addition to Loomis' world premiere, the concert will feature an extensive classical selection from composers such as J.S. Bach, Barber, Ravel, S. Joplin, Pachelbel and many more.
Tickets for the concert are priced at $7.00. For more information and reservations, Call Civic Arts and Education (CAE) at (925) 943-5842.
