Got Water? A Virtual Auction to Raise Money for Water Projects in Africa

A virtual auction to benefit the African Well Fund will take place on eBay from Nov. 7th through Nov. 13th. The items for bid can be found at ebay.com/cleanwaterforafrica

(PRWEB) November 7, 2005 -- The African Well Fund is pleased to announce an exciting benefit event entitled Got Water? A Virtual Auction for Clean Water Projects in Africa. Beginning Nov. 7th, a variety of donated items will be available for bidding on African Well Fund’s eBay auction page. Many items have been donated for the benefit including a treasure trove of U2 fan memorabilia.

The auction begins at noon on Nov. 7th and runs through midnight on Nov. 13th. During that time, items will be available on African Well Fund’s dedicated eBay page - www.ebay.com/cleanwaterforafrica - as well as on AWF’s MissionFish page. 100% of the proceeds from the auction will be used to fund water projects in Africa. We encourage bidders to bid frequently and generously.

Some of the donated items to be auctioned include the following: A copy of the book Bono in Conversation, autographed by both Bono and the author; a numbered limited edition art lithograph by Larry Mullen Jr.; a RIAA Platinum Record Award for Achtung Baby and a numbered limited edition All That You Can’t Leave Behind promo box. A number of non-U2 items will be available as well including the opportunity to name a character in upcoming novels by authors Kelley Eskridge and Nicola Griffith. The high bidder in this auction may use his or her own name, or give the right as a gift to a friend or family member. The namesake will also receive a personalized signed copy of the published book.

The African Well Fund is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded by a group of U2 fans in late 2002. Since that time we have raised over $110,000, including more than $50,000 in 2005 alone. Proceeds from the African Well Fund are donated to Africare’s water projects in Africa. Africare is one of the leading private, non -profit charitable U.S. organizations assisting Africa. For more information please visit www.africare.org. The African Well Fund was founded to focus on one achievable goal: providing access to clean water. The African Well Fund believes that access to clean water is not merely a basic human need but a basic human right.
