Cissy Hassell’s fourth release, "Nowhere" (RoseHeart Books, April 2005), introduces a story of self-discovery, independence and love in her novel, Nowhere. This story brings a tale with lots of twists, turns and surprises as it recounts a young woman’s journey out of the darkness of her past into the light of a new life. Nowhere is the story of a woman seeking sanctuary from an abusive past, the people she meets along the way and the man who falls in love with her. A story of secrets and deception, passion and turmoil, and the preservation of life, Nowhere delves into the sacrifices that come with love.
She didn’t want anyone’s help, she just wanted to fade into obscurity and survive…
Harleigh Bleu has experienced horrific anguish at the hands of an ex-husband. When she finally takes her life in her own hands and disappears, she vows never to put herself in that position again. Until she meets the residents of a little town called Nowhere who take her under their wing, give her sanctuary and protect her as one of their own. This includes, Caleb, the local doctor, intent on knowing all the intimate details of her life. Now she faces the dilemma of exposing a past she wants to leave behind.
He won’t let her walk this path alone…
As a doctor, Caleb Forrester has one goal in life: give help and protection to those who need him. The last thing he expects is to fall in love with a woman who doesn’t want either. Soon he has questions that demand an answer – but the answers he seeks are shocking. Once told, he wishes he’d never asked.
The question now is whether Caleb’s love will be enough to protect Harleigh from a menace so horrific it chills the blood. Or, will she run to protect the man she loves and the residents of Nowhere from the evil she thought she left behind?
… Right from the beginning the character of Harleigh pulls you in. I wanted to know her past and what made her feel she had to run. NOWHERE was a good read. I enjoyed the twist and turns that lead up to the conclusion. The ride was fun, the characters are well developed, and I one day I would like to visit this town of Nowhere. – Round Table Reviews …
At the age of six, she was introduced to the written word and began absorbing them like a sponge. At the end of her first school year, she had read every book in the first grade library. From that day forward, she read everything she could get her hands on. Her claim to fame in the early years is eraser tag champion in the second grade and the girls’ spelling bee champion in the seventh. She began writing at the age of fourteen and has “dabbled” ever since.
She has six books currently in print, with three due to be released in 2006. Two of her short stories will appear in an anthology, No Law Against Love with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness.
