Clarian Health Partners recently utilized Broadata Communications Inc.’s Model 300 series, multi-channel fiber optic transmission equipment for remote viewing of 2 different live surgeries, simultaneously at Indiana University Hospital.

More than 50 surgeons were in attendance at the Ruth Lilly Auditorium to view live video images of the surgeries, which were transmitted from the hospital’s operating rooms to the auditorium utilizing the BCI fiber optic equipment.

David Boyer of Clarian Health stated, “BCI’s fiber optic transmission equipment worked flawlessly and was instrumental in the success in viewing live surgical techniques for teaching purposes. All participants were able to see clear video and hear phenomenal audio from IU operating suites 19 & 20. Both the Endo and Da Vinci Robotic Surgeries sessions were well received and the audience response very positive. Furthermore, BCI’s especially quick delivery of the product allowed the Audio/Video integrator, Stryker Communications, to complete the equipment installation and testing in record time, under difficult time constraints.”

Don Hosmer, National Sales Manager for BCI, added, “Broadata is proud and pleased to have contributed to the successful remote viewing of these two important, live surgical events. We hope that this viewing will lead to additional live AV transmission events in the future to further enhance the teaching symposium experiences at the hospital.”
