Contest highlights the most innovative uses of IP telephony deployments and uncovers lessons learned during the deployment process.

Sage Research, Inc. and its media partner FierceCIO are hosting a contest to discover the best IP telephony success stories. The “Best Practices in IP Telephony” contest provides an opportunity for telecommunications professionals to be recognized for their use of innovative telephony solutions.

Sage and FierceCIO are asking contestants to provide a brief description of their company’s IP PBX, IP Centrex or hosted IP telephony deployment, how the technology has changed the way their company conducts business, and to share advice and pitfalls so that future implementers can learn from their experience. The contest begins today at 9:00am EST and the deadline for submission is midnight Eastern Standard Time on December 16, 2005. For complete contest details and a copy of the official rules, go to http://www.sageresearch.com/contest.htm.

“IP telephony is an exciting technology that is proliferating rapidly,” stated Kathryn Korostoff, president of Sage Research, Inc. “While we are undertaking comprehensive quantitative and qualitative research on this topic for a number of clients, we felt this contest would be a fun and creative way to learn more about the benefits achieved and lessons learned from actual IP telephony deployments. We also see this as an opportunity to share this advice with future IP telephony adopters.”

Sage Research will announce the winners on January 4, 2005 and will award a $500 American Express gift certificate to the winner of each category:

  •     Large enterprises with 1000 or more employees
  •     SMBs with fewer than 1000 employees.

A panel of three unbiased, industry experts will judge the submissions based on innovation, quality of advice given, and business benefits achieved. The judges include Sage Research’s Kathryn Korostoff; Zeus Kerravala, vice president of Enterprise Computing and Networking at Yankee Group; and Judy Mottl, editor in chief of FierceCIO.

“IP telephony has evolved past simple cost-saving issues,” said Kerravala. “What the industry needs now are innovative applications that maximize ROI benefits. I, for one, am looking forward to learning about the creative solutions early adopters have developed and sharing this information with the growing number of enterprises who are evaluating and implementing these new systems.”
