InsureMe Provides Employees Help with Challenging Life Issues

Corporate employees carrying personal struggles and problems into the workplace are known to decrease morale and productivity. To counter these effects, InsureMe, the leading consumer-agent link for buying insurance online, is showing its employees how much they’re valued with a new service that offers help and support during difficult times.

The InsureMe Care Program, operated by a nationwide company known as Marketplace Chaplains USA, provides a nondenominational chaplain service to InsureMe employees 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help them deal with difficult or life-changing situations or events.

Weekly office visits conducted by chaplains give employees an outlet for the cares and concerns that stifle morale and affect productivity. In addition, chaplains visit staff members and loved ones at home, in hospitals, at funeral homes, or wherever they’re needed. Conversations and situations remain confidential, offering employees a trusted, objective source of friendship, comfort, strength and prayer.

Asked why the company decided to implement such an unusual program, InsureMe CEO Tim McTavish replied, “On a personal level, we wanted to ‘do the right thing,’ our company mission, by tangibly showing love and compassion to our employees. From a business perspective, this program improves profitability, reduces turnover, lifts employee spirits and increases productivity.”

Completely voluntary and free for staff members and their families, the InsureMe Care program has been a blessing for many at the company.

“The chaplains are wonderfully supportive and encouraging…they have helped my family and me through some very frightening times,” laments Sarah Mayer, one employee. “I don’t know what we would have done without them.”

Melissa Medina and her husband, Michael, another staff family, recently engaged a care program chaplain in a vow-renewal ceremony celebrating their marriage.

“It was fantastic!” Melissa says enthusiastically. “I loved that this wonderful person I already knew and trusted could officiate at the service—and it didn’t cost me a thing! That was a huge blessing.”

Janet Thimell, one of two Marketplace chaplains assigned to care for InsureMe employees, says she’s grateful to be involved in InsureMe’s Care Program.

“It means so much to be able to extend friendship and compassion to those I serve. Often, just talking through a situation brings clarity to the issues at hand.”

Thimmel defines her role at InsureMe as one of “a friend who listens and cares.”

The program has proved invaluable to the company as a whole.

“I’d be hard-pressed to find a better value to our employees. These chaplains are true servants,” McTavish concludes.
