PASSPORT Client and Server Host Integration Options
Non-Intrusive, Screen-Based Methods for Host Integration.
(PRWEB) November 13, 2005 -- Zephyr offers a number of Windows-based host integration solutions via its PASSPORT products. All offer non-intrusive, screen-based methods to integrate.NET, ActiveX and traditional host applications at the application layer.
The appeal of Windows-based, screen-scraping solutions is that they’re inexpensive, can be developed quickly, and offer an immediate return on investment. Listed below are links to the various PASSPORT client and server-based integration options:
Client-Based Host Integration Options for Windows XP and 2000
HLLAPI
HLLAPI (High Level Language Application Programming Interface) is recommended when PASSPORT is being used to replace an Attachmate EXTRA!®, IBM Personal Communications® or NetManage Rumba® emulator and an existing PC HLLAPI application (many third party applications use this more traditional API for host access). Zephyr provides the PASSPORT HLLAPI Toolkit as a resource for developers using HLLAPI for screen-based integration with 3270, 5250 or UNIX host applications.
Object Interface
The Object Interface is recommended for new applications that require an object-oriented interface to host applications, can be used to run existing Attachmate OLE automation applications, or used to run complex Attachmate EXTRA! macros that have been converted by Zephyr for use with PASSPORT. Zephyr provides the PASSPORT Object Toolkit as a resource for developers using the object-oriented API for screen-based integration with 3270, 5250 or UNIX host applications.
Automation Interface
The Automation Interface is recommended when a terminal emulator needs to be integrated into a 'master' desktop application which controls host access and execution of all other applications.
Macro Interface
The Macro Interface is recommended when a lightweight screen scraping API is needed to access a single host session with simple event functions.
