Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) November 14, 2005 -- For the fourth anniversary of Delaware author John Riddle’s “I Love To Write Day” (http://www.ILoveToWriteDay.org), a grassroots effort to have people of all ages practice their writing skills, author Neal R. Voron invites participants to explore and challenge their creative writing abilities by writing their own version of Chapter 6 of his self-help/inspirational novel, “The Obstacle Course”.
At WriteYourOwnChapter.com (http://www.WriteYourOwnChapter.com), Voron is providing free online access to chapters 1 to 5 of his novel about succeeding in the “obstacle course of life”. Individuals who submit their own version of Chapter 6 to him will receive online access to his published version of that chapter to compare writing approaches.
Conceived by Riddle, “I Love To Write Day” on Tuesday, Nov. 15 is an opportunity for people of all ages to write something: a poem, an essay, a letter to the editor, a short story, start a novel, finish a novel -- the possibilities are endless!
“I wanted to support ‘I Love To Write Day’ by providing a unique opportunity for people to practice their creative writing skills and to see how their approach compares to what the author actually wrote,” Voron said. “The first five chapters of ‘The Obstacle Course’ are fast-paced and leave the reader at an interesting point. It will be fun to see the direction that other writers take the story, and I think they will have fun finding out where I took it!”
Besides getting access to Voron’s Chapter 6, writers who submit their chapter to Voron will be given a link to a free "Jumpstart Your Book" 10-part e-course plus a “Successful Self-Publishing” ebook by Jim Donovan, successful author, speaker, and book coach who has published “Handbook To A Happier Life”, “This Is Your Life, Not A Dress Rehearsal”, and other books.
On the first “I Love To Write Day” promoted by Riddle in 2002, 11,328 schools held special writing events and activities. Last year, the author of 34 books signed up 15,123 schools. This year, his goal is to have an “I Love To Write Day” program in over 20,000 schools, as well as in libraries and bookstores.
Voron, who is also a lyricist and co-founder of RyKy Records (tm) (http://www.RyKyRecords.com), is one of many authors sponsoring this year’s event. Authors Vonda Skinner Skelton and Don Brown are 2005 honorary co-chairs.
“The Obstacle Course” has been praised by teachers, self-help experts, businesspeople, and others for its “pearls of wisdom”. One teacher called it “the ‘classroom’ experience of a lifetime”. The book even inspired a musician to create “The Obstacle Course Musical”, due to be published as a CD album in 2006.
