'Ella Mentry and the Case of the Missing Scientist' Featured in Saturday Series for Kids at Performance Network
Fun, interactive and educational play for children ages 4-12 about Detective Ella Mentry and her search for the famous historical Greek scientist Archimedes.
(PRWEB) November 15, 2005 -- On Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 2:00pm, Performance Network Theatre (PNT) will present Ella Mentry and the Case of the Missing Scientist on its Main Stage, as a part of its Saturday Series for Young Audiences.
Archimedes, the famous Greek scientist, disappears just as he is about to reveal his latest discovery. It’s a job for Detective Ella Mentry, who works to “crack the case” using the scientific method to sift through the clues. This interactive and entertaining, curriculum-based theatre production combines a scientific mystery with music and comedy as students learn how to test ideas and draw conclusions.
CTN director Becky Fox guides a creative cast of characters through the four stages of discovery in this original piece by James Ingagiola. “When lessons are presented visually as well as verbally, when students make their own connections between what is to be learned and what they already understand, and when all the senses are engaged in the learning process, students are able not only to learn in the way best suited to their style, but also develop a full and varied repertoire of thinking strategies”(Linda Williams, Teaching for the Two-Sided Mind, Simon & Schuster, 1983).
Ella Mentry and the Case of the Missing Scientist will be performed at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Performance Network Theatre, 120 E. Huron St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for kids. Additionally, educators and parents are encouraged to invite the production to visit their school or organization.
