She posted one little comment to a blog, about her dogs. That comment caught the eye of world-renowned dog lover and shoe maven Beverly Feldman, and now Bark & Sparkle (http://www.barkandsparkle.com) jewelry designer Laurie Vien has been invited to Feldman’s tony W. 56th Street boutique in New York City, to participate in Feldman’s First Annual Doggie Love Day event, set for November 19, to benefit Animal Haven Shelter (http://www.animalhavenshelter.org/).

A dog lover & owner of a pair of puppy mill rescues herself, Vien is happy to be a part of this event celebrating dog ownership & promoting shelter adoptions. Feldman’s boutique is famously dog-friendly, and among those who own her shoes, the self-proclaimed diva has been elevated to goddess status. Her clientele includes Oprah, Kim Cattrall, Kirstie Alley, Paula Abdul, and Katie Couric.

"When I first read about Beverly in New York Dog, I felt like she and I were kindred spirits,” Vien says. “Her apartment is mostly white, yet she lives with 12 dogs--now that's puppy love. And she loves chocolate, Diet Coke, and sparkly things. She's a girl after my own heart.”

Vien owns Bark & Sparkle, a company specializing in crystal collars for dogs, with a line of matching necklaces and bracelets for humans called “Best Friends”. Bark & Sparkle donates regularly to dog-friendly charities, making Vien a natural participant for the Doggie Love event. Her company recently lent a hand in support of animals displaced by Hurricane Katrina and is donating 50 handcrafted crystal-accented dogbone keyrings for gift bags to be handed out at the Doggie Love event.

One of Vien's collars was given to Barbra Streisand for her dog, Sammie, when Streisand appeared at Andre Agassi's 10th Annual Grand Slam for Children fundraiser in Las Vegas on October 1, 2005.

Some of the animals available for adoption at Animal Haven will be on site at Beverly Feldman during Doggie Love Day. Customers can enter their pooches in an ‘Is Your Dog a Diva?’ raffle and win a fashion spread in New York Dog magazine -- the ’Cosmo of Canines’ -- with proceeds benefiting Animal Haven.

“We’re honored to have been asked to be part of Doggie Love Day,” Vien says. “It's a great cause, and it'll be a blast besides!"
