Class.com Announces Geometry 1 Launch
New Version of Online Geometry Course Strengthens Crucial Mathematics Sequence
Lincoln, NE (PRWEB) November 15, 2005 -- Class.com has announced the release of Geometry 1, a newly revised two-semester course sequence covering essential geometry standards required throughout the United States. The updated courseware includes Class.com “visual math” manipulative activities, real world applications, and deductive proofs.
“The visual math manipulative activities offer guided instruction through visual interactions. Geometry 1 weaves visual math through the lesson material to help students ‘see’ complex geometry concepts in action,” commented Michelle Kobza, Director of Instructional Technology. “We also included new assessments at the end of each lesson and over 500 assessment items, mapped down to the topic level, allowing instructors to assess students at the topic, lesson and/or unit level.”
“Our updated Geometry sequence helps teachers explain key concepts clearly and effectively, offering schools an engaging and rigorous curriculum resource for credit recovery, alternative education, and virtual school programs,” said Class.com CEO Katherine Endacott. “Using Class.com's courseware, teachers can more easily individualize instruction and reach nontraditional learners. We're very excited about the potential for improved student achievement with this engaging approach to Geometry instruction.”
The Geometry courses include a wide variety of self-directed and teacher-guided activities, computer-graded quizzes with over 500 new assessment items, over 60 guided “visual math” manipulatives, and writing assignments. The courseware is designed for computer lab and distance learning applications, enabling learners to work through courses sequentially or be placed at the appropriate level within the course.
