Prominemt Grosse Ile, Michigan Estate Will be Sold at Auction
The largest parcel of property on the Grosse Ile, Michigan market heads to the auction block on Saturday, December 3, 2005.
Grosse Ile, MI (PRWEB) November 20, 2005 -- The estate of well known community residents, Hank and Barbara Potrykus will go to the auction block after the recent passing of the heroic firefighter, pilot and businessman, Hank Potrykus. The property is the largest parcel of real estate on the market on historic Grosse Ile, Michigan.
The site was a popular stop for community residence as it once supported a thriving farm which featured acres of fruits, vegetables, honey and a horse ranch for over a decade. Later the farm was converted to a 9-hole golf course that was illuminated to support night time golfing. The public auction will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 3 at the Potrykus Estate at 20521 Meridian on Grosse Ile.
In addition to the real estate, some of the auction highlights include but not limited to; an antique tractor that reportedly belonged to automobile making legend, Henry Ford. Other items include an extensive collection of pocket watches that date back into the 19th century along with Civil War collectibles, industrial farming equipment, 1993 Harley Davidson Soft Tail motorcycle, 1989 Pontiac Firebird and more.
Due to the overwhelming significance of this auction, the event will be managed by two nationally recognized and award winning auction firms being, Sheridan Auction & Reality of Mason, Michigan and American Eagle Auction & Appraisal Company in Livonia, Michigan.
“This is going to be an outstanding opportunity for the public to get in on the ground level on some remarkable items. Mrs. Potrykus made it clear that everything has to go and we’re going to make that happen for her,” said, auctioneer Ken Lindsay.
The late Henry ‘Hank’ Potrykus served as a professional firefighter for 31 years who was a member of the Jet Boat Scuba Diving Team in Detroit. In 1985, he was awarded the Medal of Valor for saving the life of a 68-year old woman by rescuing her from an inferno and giving her life saving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He was an avid pilot and was the President of the Great Lakes Sea Plane Association for three years.
