TheThingsIWant.com Releases Holiday Wishlist Study

This season, wishlists are growing and iPods rule.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 15, 2005 -- Data from TheThingsIWant.com shows one in ten people want an iPod Nano this holiday season.

Five times as many people are making an online Christmas or Chanukah wishlist this season compared to last year. In a representative study of over 500 Americans of all ages, the number of people who say they will make an online wishlist this year has grown from 2.4% to 12.3%.

“The study we conducted measures intent. Our actual new registrations so far this year are up around 4 times the same period last year,” says Guy White, CEO TheThingsIWant.com. “We’re hoping that people follow through on their stated intention and do make there wishlists online. It’ll be good for the category and all online sales.”

Measuring registrations over the last 4 years, the busiest days of the year for making an online wishlist are the Friday, Saturday and Sunday following Thanksgiving. “We see a huge jump in registrations in the U.S. over Thanksgiving. It’s almost as if everyone in the U.S. is waiting for permission to make their list until after the final Thursday on November. In Canada, the UK, other European markets and Australasia, the build in registrations are more gradual since they don’t have a big November holiday,” adds White.

To date, TheThingsIWant.com data shows that the Nano and iPod video and related accessories are out-shining any other wish. Apple’s Nano is the single most wished for item this season. It out-wishes the iPod video 8 to 1 and all Harry Potter books and DVDs 3 to 1. Almost one in every ten seasonal wishlists has a Nano on it.

“This is the first time the company has shared wishlist aggregated information,” says White. “At the end of the year we’ll be able to examine what people wanted against what they got. It’s a very exciting development for the online world and e-tailors globally.”
