The WavBoard EV1 uses cellular broadband to put an Internet connection in a moving vehicle. Passengers can be playing Xbox 360 Live while others surf the web on their laptops.
Developed by Omniwav Mobile, the small 2” x 4” x 10” WavBoard EV1 is now compatible with the Sprint PCS network as well as Verizon Wireless. There is a vehicle package for $979.00 and a marine package for $1,495.00. Monthly service is $59.00-$79.00 for unlimited use.
Service is currently available in more than 60 metro areas and will be available nationwide in 2006. The broadband connection averages speeds of 500-800 kbps and even works while the car is cruising down the freeway.
