Local Community Benefits from BMI Federal Credit Union and OSU Fans
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) November 20, 2005 -- For the past 11 years parking at BMI Federal Credit Union for OSU games has been a staple in game day festivities for many fans. BMI FCU’s CEO/President, Sharon Custer, utilized their neighboring location to The Ohio State University to offer BMI FCU’s parking lot as an option for the devoted OSU football fans. By charging a small fee to park for OSU home games, BMI FCU has raised over $60,000 for Central Ohio charities and community events since 1994 making a big impact on community.
In 2005 and 2006, BMI FCU stands to raise nearly $22,000 with the season’s proceeds going to the local Habitat for Humanity program. Jen Erb, HR Manager for BMI Federal Credit Union, has championed the project in 2005 and 2006 with CEO/President Sharon Custer. This project will be a local Credit Union sponsored home with money coming from all Credit Union League affiliated organizations in Central Ohio, and will afford a family in need the ability to become home owners. With BMI FCU raising the $22,000, they will be giving 30% of the proceeds needed to sponsor a home while having fun hanging out with OSU fans. Erb acknowledged, “It is the essence of the credit union motto "people helping people" and just another example of how credit unions join together to support the community and our members.”
BMI FCU donates the proceeds from parking for OSU home games to different charity associations each year, and will continue to be a part of giving back to the Central, Ohio community. Erb stated, “Being a Columbus native, I've grown up watching OSU football. It is exciting to be involved in a project where I can support the community and OSU fans. We have many fans return to park in our lot for every game because the money goes to a wonderful cause.”
