Marotta Selected By Aviation Week as Product Breakthrough Award Finalist

Marotta Controls today announced that Aviation Week & Space Technology has selected Marotta as one of 2005’s Product Breakthrough Award Finalists. Marotta’s model MV604C 3-way/2-position solenoid valve used in the Airbus A380 landing gear was chosen for this award due to its compact size, minimal part count and superior performance.

Montville, NJ (PRWEB) November 22, 2005

The MV604C is used in the hydraulic manifolds of the A380’s new main body landing gear, which was developed to enhance the maneuverability of the super-jumbo aircraft on the ground, and allows both front and back wheels to turn in unison. The compact and lightweight MV604 actuates a spool in the manifold, controlling the aft steering of the aircraft when commanded.

“Our engineering team has a long history of designing demanding fluid control solutions,” said Michael Leahan, Vice President and Chief Sales Officer of Marotta. “We are pleased to be recognized by Aviation Week for our contribution to this exciting new aircraft.”

The Airbus A380, the word’s largest passenger plane, will be the most advanced, spacious and efficient commercial airliner in the sky. The 555-seat, double-deck aircraft will provide a supreme level of comfort for its passengers, and is expected to take its first commercial flight next year.
