U.S. Beer Drinking Team and Beer Radio Encourage Americans to 'Celebrate With Beer'
The U.S. Beer Drinking Team and Beer Radio will begin a national campaign to encourage its members and listeners to “Celebrate with beer!"
Baltimore, MD. – (PRWEB) November 21, 2005 – The U.S. Beer Drinking Team and Beer Radio will begin a national campaign to encourage its members and listeners to “Celebrate with beer!"
“Ever since the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock to replenish their supply of beer, Americans have been celebrating and giving thanks with beer as their drink of choice... until now” stated Dennis Buettner, Captain of the USBDT and producer of nationally syndicated Beer Radio. “Year after year we’ve seen more and more championship teams crack open a bottle of champagne to celebrate the big win. Guests raise their champagne glasses at wedding receptions and wine is the celebration drink at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for over 200 years America has enjoyed a variety of ales, porters, and lagers as a piece of our history and tradition. We want that spirit of celebrating and giving thanks with beer to continue. We find it amazing that in a country which consumes so much beer on a day to day basis, champagne and wine are the drinks raised up in the cheers of celebration on holidays and special occasions. Americans need some encouragement to celebrate with beer and we’re here to show them the way.”
According to Buettner, Beer Radio and the U.S. Beer Drinking Team will begin a national campaign to “Celebrate with Beer!” by utilizing radio, television, print and the internet to get the word out to all Americans that they should raise their mugs of beer at weddings, wakes, baptisms, birthdays, holidays, sporting events and weddings. “There are thousands of terrific American beers” said Buettner. “You can even buy them in large bottles if you wish. The corks pop off but instead of pouring into dainty little glasses feel free to pour the beer into a waxed leather tankard and raise it in honor, just as the pilgrims would have done at the first Thanksgiving. America is a country of celebration and tradition. Let’s keep the tradition alive. Celebrate with beer!"
The “Beer Entertainment” Industry
90 million passionate beer drinking Americans spent over $82 billion dollars on "beer entertainment" in 2004. (Not the cost of the food or the football tickets, just the beer portion is figured into this amount.) During this same time period Americans spent only $9.5 billion on "motion picture entertainment" box office ticket sales. Directly and indirectly, the American beer industry provides over $162 billion in economic impact to the USA, employs over 1.7 million Americans, providing them with over $53 billion in wages and benefits. The American beer industry includes more than 2,400 brewers and beer importers, nearly 2,000 beer wholesalers and 550,000 retail establishments. The U.S. Department of Labor found their wages to be among the highest of 350 industries surveyed. The American beer industry provided over $30 billion in business, personal and consumption taxes, including over $5 billion in excise taxes in 2004. Worldwide beer sales totaled over $412 billion dollars in 2004. The beer industry has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in the last decade to promote responsible consumption of beer.
