Hantel CO., Ltd., a leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing high-quality, CDMA-based fixed wireless local loop (WLL), hybrid terminals and engineering services to operators worldwide, announced an exclusive agreement signed with VoEx International LLC, a leading technology provider and innovative designer of global telecommunications and wireless voice and data solutions to supply Fixed Wireless Equipment to VoEx’s operations and carrier partners. The various phone and terminal type products will operate at 450, 800 and 1900 frequencies utilizing CDMA2000 1x advanced fixed wireless. Specific financial terms were not disclosed.

The telephones & terminals specified in the supply agreement, which are customized to cost-effectively provide basic wireless telephone access, advanced internet connectivity and text messaging capabilities, will be marketed by VoEx and their partners to their residential and business customers. The initial product deployment will be in North Iraq Cities as phase one to further expand throughout Iraq and the Middle East and North Africa region.

The expense and logistical difficulties inherent in extending a conventional copper-wire "land-line" telecommunications grid throughout the Middle East can cause delays of many months for qualified customers to gain access to a conventional phone system. Hantel’s pioneering fixed wireless technology is a cost-effective alternative to the prohibitively expensive build-out of the regional wire telecommunications network that would be required to provide developing nations with a connectivity infrastructure on par with highly developed nations in North America, Europe and industrialized parts of Asia such as Japan.

Hantel’s President KC Lee stated, “As the leading manufacturer of the WLL products, Hantel sees this agreement as a great opportunity to expand its marketing base from South East Asia and South West Asia into the Middle East and North African regions. Hantel is committed as part of the strategic alliance with VoEx to develop technological products unique for these areas as part of its future road map.

Under this agreement VoEx in Phase 1 will market fixed wireless voice & data products; also known as WLL; capable of delivering excellent voice products tagged along with high speed data connectivity. Products will serve many consumers in residential areas of the cities, towns and villages of Iraq starting in 2006. Further, enhanced products being developed will serve the special specific needs of all the Ministries, hospitals, and major government facilities. Business users will have ample of products and services to cater to their special demands and cutting cost on the current costly satellite connectivity.

VoEx International Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Asaad Y. Alnajjar stated, “Over the past two years since early 2003, VoEx International has been very active in the design and implementation of GSM, CDMA and iDen mobile networks in Iraq and the Middle East, 3G and UMTS Global upgrades, WCDMA/WLL design and installations, satellite voice and data communications, and WiMax and last mile effective WiFi solutions. In addition, VoEx executives have been extremely involved in the development and growth of wireless products, solutions, connectivity and applications to expedite the deployment of these networks. Our team has presented in many global settings white papers and solutions that helped to achieve our advancements today. Hantel products offered by VoEx in Iraq will enhance the quality of life for all the Iraqi people by giving them excellent voice services along with high speed data and internet connectivity to accommodate their every day needs. Our services will for sure expedite the rebuilding of the new Iraq.”

VoEx so far has been leading efforts in many third world countries in engineering support to design, build, operate and then transfer wireless communications centers and wireless networks. For the three past years VoEx has been very active in the design-build of several telecom projects in Iraq and had provided extended services to the many companies working in Iraq.

Last January 2005, Mr. Alnajjar presented in London at the Iraqi Wireless conference the advantages of WLL for Iraq's telecom future and touched on the advanced data capabilities that will serve the community in a short time.

VoEx International is among the 17 consortiums that will be allowed to participate in the ongoing bidding & licensing process by NCMC in Iraq for a possible 2 national licenses for Iraq’s WLL Networks or a possible regional license (http://www.NCMC-IRAQ.org). This process is antcipated to complete and licenses awarded by February 2006.
