When People Go Missing Abroad...What Should You Do?

Don't panic; there are some simple steps to follow, but you must do them quickly while time is still on the missing person's and your side.

(PRWEB) November 22, 2005 -- What does one do when someone has gone missing overseas in a foreign land?

If someone has gone missing ...
1) .. Do not panic.
2) .. Gather all the information you can about the situation so you can provide a proper, and comprehensive reporting of the details, to all the organizations that will assist in locating the person.

Who can help?
Police and other related agencies ...
1) .. Contact the local area police force where the person is suspected to have gone missing.
2) .. Contact your countries Embassy or Consulate. Here is a complete list worldwide.
http://www.embassyworld.com/embassy/directory.htm%20

Once you have given the missing persons details to these official agencies, they will in turn pass the information to the International police forces and agencies such as Interpol, PNMPB (Police National Missing Persons Bureau), the F.B.I and more ...

Who else can help?
Volunteer Services ...
The Red Cross Tracing Service works in more than 180 countries to re-establish contact between relatives separated as a result of war, internal conflict or natural disaster. It is a service provided free of charge to the public.

The Salvation Army Family Tracing Service operates a worldwide network for finding missing families. It accepts a donation for this work.

By using the resources as mentioned above, hopefully your search will be successful in locating the missing person. Unfortunately, if you are not, then you must weigh your options both quickly and carefully to put time on your side. Remember, that police forces and other related agencies can only do so much with the resources they have available, and your missing persons or runaway case will be only one in dozens of other serious issues.

More Options: A Focused Area Search

Missing Persons International Locating Service ...

If you feel your options have been just about exhausted, then maybe a Focused Area Search could be very helpful. Using a dedicated team of searchers ( Boots On The Ground ) to locate missing and/or runaway persons is an option to seriously consider.
