Edinburgh, Scotland, (PRWEB) November 24, 2005 -- The New Curiosity Shop – online courses in a range of subjects.

We are proud to announce that the first issue of Cloisters is now out.

Cloisters is a new free monthly digital magazine from The New Curiosity Shop (http://www.newcurioshop.com ), covering topics related to online learning – learning in the digital age. Cloisters target audience is adults wishing to take up learning again, but who don't want - or aren't able - to return to formal education at college or university: it's the online evening class.

Founding partner Noel Chidwick explains: "although online learning, or elearning, is growing more popular in schools, colleges and universities, it seems to be passing the adult learner by. Cloisters is an attempt to raise the awareness of online learning for adult learners, and to explain the benefits to adult learners. We think of it as learning for the grown-ups."

The first issue of Cloisters includes:

  • What is online learning?

  • What is it like to be an online learner?

  • An interview our tutor Sarah Pouezevara (course: HIV/AIDS and Society)

  • Course of the month - Before we go to Paradise: the Development of the Garden Cemetery

  • The online learner as a party animal

  • New Courses:
  •
  • Myself and Others: An Introduction to the Philosophy of the Mind

About the New Curiosity Shop

The New Curiosity Shop is based in Edinburgh, Scotland. There are no conglomerates, corporates or multi-million dollar industry backing here: the New Curiosity Shop is the brain-child of two Edinburgh educationalists, Noel Chidwick and Dr W Arthur Chapman, who have a passion for learning, an appreciation of the technology and a desire to change attitudes in a world moving far too quickly for its own good.

Our reach is world wide: we have tutors in Scotland, Wales, England, Italy, France, Spain and USA and in the short time we have been operational we have had students from the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and mainland Europe. It’s online learning with the personal touch.
