New York (PRWEB) November 24, 2005 -- In a bold and fresh approach to managing the careers of photographers, creative designers/directors, stylists, hair artists and make-up artists in the fashion/celebrity industry, Mel Bryant announced the opening last week of The Artist Co-Op.

A modern idea in an ever-evolving industry, the Artist Co-Op offers high-quality artistic management and promotion, but eliminates many of the pitfalls of the “traditional” agency by ensuring that the artist maintains control of his or her own finances.

The unique arrangement enables artists to work in collaboration with a highly skilled artistic manager in a more equitable manner than the typical management agency model allows. All participating artists pay a small retainer to belong to the Artist Co-Op and remain responsible for their own messenger accounts, comp cards, portfolios, portfolio pages and car services. The Artist Co-Op handles invoicing under the artist’s name and social security number, and accepts payment on behalf of artists, who pay their commission when they receive their checks. Both artist and manager work free-lance and are responsible for their own taxes. The arrangement allows artists to maintain control of their finances while reaping the benefits of high quality management services.

The Artist Co-Op opens with a small and highly-talented group of artists, including fashion photographers Nick Clements and Matt Hind and creative designer/director Charles Bumgardner.
