(PRWEB) November 26, 2005 -- Vijay P Nair delves into nineteenth century India and comes out with an absorbing new novel titled: In The Land of Snake Gods, in conjunction with Lulu (www.lulu.com), the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books
In the Land of Snake Gods is a novel based on some of the strange customs and practices followed in South India till the early twentieth century. The system of marriage prevalent at that time might appear bizarre to the western culture. At that time when an upper caste Brahmin wished to have a relationship with a Nair woman, her husband has to move away to gratify the Brahmin’s wish. Exchange of a new set of clothes was all that needed to begin a relationship; return of it constituted the end of the affair.
This novel captures many of such weird customs, and takes the reader to a world hitherto unknown.
“Independent publishing and print-on-demand is the wave of the future, and the future is now,” said Vijay Nair. “The Lulu process allows me to cut out the middle man (i.e. a separate publisher) and get my work out there the way I want it. My book is much like Lulu itself — it puts control of your destiny in your own hands.”
