Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 26, 2005 -- The extended run of Courtney Fine’s one woman show, Me2, will begin with a free performance for the public on December 2nd in memory of the late Doug Block. The public is asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for children birth through 18 years of age. Toys will go directly to the Pediatrics Department of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Doug Block is remembered by friends, family and colleagues as an amazing man, event organ-izer extraordinaire, and core member of the Tony award-winning Ergo Entertainment team. Block also served as the motivational force behind Courtney Fine and her show Me2, as he urged Courtney to follow her dreams and write and produce her show. Block was a victim of cancer and passed away on the evening of November 19, 2005. The December 2nd performance in Doug Block’s memory will benefit the Pediatrics Department of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Proclaimed “Flawless!” by LA Splash Magazine, Me2, directed by Brian Howie (Pieces (of Ass)), details the events of a single LA girl’s worst nightmare -- the loss of her cell phone. Based on real life events, actress Courtney Fine takes us through the course of one very bad date in which she encounters an unexpected disaster that lands her in jail. Allowed just one phone call, and with no cell phone to provide her with that lifetime list of phone numbers, Courtney calls a skeptical and unsympathetic operator and uses her wit and charm to get through this amusingly harrowing experience. With a voice introduction by John Walsh (”America’s Most Wanted”), Me2 spotlights a neurotic, single Jewish girl’s life as she tries to understand her newfound iden-tity along with the perils and perks of dating in Los Angeles. As Courtney soon discovers: we are all equal to the sum of our Call History.
Me2 will continue its run at the Globe Playhouse on December 2, 9 and 16, respectively, with all performances beginning at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 310.590.7229, or online at www.tix.com or www.me2la.com. Tickets for the performance on 12/9/05 and 12/16/05 are $20.
The Globe Playhouse has been home to many of Los Angeles’s most prestigious and popular plays and actors, including Al Pacino, Annie Potts, John Ritter, and Jack Black; and is where Nia Vardalos debuted her one woman show that spawned the hit film My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The Globe Playhouse is located at 1107 North Kings Road in West Hollywood.
