Gill Introduces Muni Continuity: Internet-based Business Continuity Solutions for Local Governments

Gill Advisors Inc. introduces Muni Continuity, a web-based risk management product structured as a set of methodologies that enable local governments to seamlessly build business continuity planning and emergency management programs ensuring the continuity of their municipal operations.

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) November 28, 2005 -- As business continuity and risk management planning become high priority items for municipal governments, planners need to first decide how comprehensive a plan should be, as well as how it's optimally structured. Gill Advisors Inc. (Gill) has just launched Muni Continuity (www.municontinuity.com), a web-based program of easy-to-use modules that allow local governments to build a comprehensive plan using structured methodologies and templates.

Muni Continuity is the second continuity-based service launched by Gill in 2005, as it closely follows Campus Continuity (www.campuscontinuity.com), a service targeted to educational institutions that was launched in March. Although it uses a similar format as its campus counterpart, Muni Continuity is designed to address the unique composition of all constituents within a municipal setting, as well as its critical processes and operational flows. It also places more emphasis on risk analysis, telework and offers a new module that provides a detailed plan for addressing supply chain vulnerabilities.

Continuity Planning in a Post-Katrina World
Tony Gill, Managing Director of Gill, whose article "Continuity Planning in a Post-Katrina World" appears as one of four Homeland Security pieces selected in the most recent edition of the prominent public policy quarterly journal The Public Manager (www.thepublicmanager.org), believes the plan building process for city officials can be significantly simplified: “Logically break down risk areas into core components, methodically reassemble them in a structured manner, and make it inclusive. If this can be done using an efficient delivery platform, you’re well on your way. We believe Muni Continuity gives you the tools to do this.”

The platform is MyTalkback, an innovative technology provided by Streamlogics, a strategic partner in this venture. MyTalkback delivers an archived mix of streamed content and static downloadable documentation and templates (available in a virtual resource center imbedded in the platform) that is all Internet-based. The streamed component is structured using a web-based auditorium-style seminar format. Unlike a conventional seminar that occurs once at a fixed location (i.e. one that is entirely dependent on location), the Muni Continuity seminars can be viewed repeatedly by all team participants and accessed simply on a viewer’s desktop.

“The MyTalkback suite of webcasting products is the perfect solution for any web-based seminar series” says David Gascoine, VP Marketing and Operations at Streamlogics. “Using this technology, Muni Continuity offers a unique level of access and availability generally not offered by traditional consulting services.”

The entire program is divided into ten separate subject areas (or seminars), each of which consists of the following elements:

  • An online seminar delivered on the MyTalkback platform
  • A detailed white paper that provides the foundation for the seminar
  • An executive summary of the paper and presentation
  • A detailed action plan that provides the planning team with a list of actionable items
  • Project Management-based templates that simplify the plan building process

All of the supplementary documents can be downloaded and printed for distribution to all critical members of the planning team.
