Learn with Lako™ Goes Back to Basics with a Twist
A new game combines board game play with flash cards.
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 29, 2005 –- Learn with Lako™, a new educational brand for kids, gets back to basics with traditional games, puzzles and toys that star Lako the Kitten. The company’s first product, a board game called Lako’s School Days Game™, hits stores this December.
After watching a young relative play computer games, Anne Thomas, President of Ninety Longview Inc., became motivated to introduce traditional, educational products for children. She says, “Traditional game play forces kids to follow instructions, wait patiently for their turn and win or lose in front of their peers. All of these things are crucial for development.”
With that in mind, Thomas combined the traditional game play of board games like Candyland™, with the educational elements of school materials like flash cards and workbooks. The resulting product, Lako’s School Days Game, offers an incredibly fun, learning experience that appeals to both parents and children.
During game play, players draw cards with pictures such as red pizza, blue mittens or yellow giraffes and then attempt to classify the pictures into color, number and object categories. In a turn, a player may count grapes or socks, match blues or reds, and group donuts with food or squirrels with animals. Success moves Lako along the game board’s sidewalk path and the winner is the first to get Lako to the red schoolhouse.
Along the way, children land on Lako spaces which award school activity cards such as Lako doing homework at his desk, or Lako showing his nametag in show & tell. These cards educate kids about school activities and create a positive attitude toward them by rewarding children with advances on the board.
Prior to Learn with Lako, Thomas successfully launched The 80’s Game and various other decade-specific trivia games with her siblings. Lako’s School Days Game will be followed by various Learn with Lako products including a puzzle, which will be introduced at NY Toy Fair 2006, as well as a book. All products will provide fun learning experiences for children ages 4 and up.
Lako’s School Days Game is currently available at sensoryedge.com and learnwithlako.com.
