10 Fun Ways to Tell the World You’re Pregnant

Hip and Little announces a new line of pregnancy announcements, while sharing more tips on fun ways expecting moms can spread the news.

Campbell, CA (PRWEB) November 29, 2005 -- Today’s moms-to-be are finding fun and creative ways to share the news that they are expecting. Hip and Little Children's Boutique announces their new line of pregnancy announcements, along with tips on more ways to share the news with loved ones. Whether the news is for the future-daddy, grandparents, or the whole world, there are tons of great ways to let them know a baby is on the way.

1. Give them a tiny present. Choose a cute little rattle, a pair of booties or teeny tiny baby socks and wrap them up. You don’t have to say a word -- just look at the recipient’s face when the gift is opened!

2. Send an e-card. Reach friends far and wide with an e-card or cute email announcing you are expecting. Include details such as your due date and whether the baby is a boy or a girl.

3. Use your pregnancy test. You can wrap it up or place it in a long jewelry box. Include a note, just in case daddy doesn’t know what the two blue lines mean!

4. Already have an older child? Dress him or her up to spread the news. You can make a T-shirt using iron-on transfers printed on your computer, or buy one at a boutique. Hip and Little’s (www.hipandlittle.com) “I’m going to be a big brother” and “I’m going to be a big sister” T-shirts are perfect for announcing your new arrival. Put the shirt on your little one and see how long it takes for grandma to notice.

5. Fill a room with pink and blue balloons. Add a few “congratulations” and “new baby” balloons and wait until your audience opens the door.

6. Use the power of the printed word. Buy some parenting books or little baby board books and place them in a well traveled area. When questioned, pop the big news!

7. Video daddy, then share the moment. Set up a video camera to capture you telling the daddy-to-be that you are pregnant. Then, make a video or DVD to send to relatives and friends.

8. Make mealtime announcement time. Slip a note into a fortune cookie, or have your waiter bring some little baby booties on a tray instead of dessert. Or just order some pickles and ice-cream.

9. A picture is worth a thousand words. Send a bunch of pictures to your relatives (of your new house, latest vacation, repairs on your deck -- whatever) and slip in a few pictures of the pregnancy test or the sonogram in the stack. Imagine them casually flipping through until they find the surprise.

10. If you have already had your ultrasound, you can use the sonogram picture as an announcement. Slip it in an envelope or in a pregnancy announcement card and mail it to friends and relatives.

Although it may be difficult to find pregnancy announcement cards, new ones are just hitting the market now. Kari Edmonds, owner of Hip and Little Children’s Boutique, explained: “When I was pregnant, I wanted to send out some cute announcement cards, but couldn’t find any. There were lots of birth announcements, but none that shared the exciting news that we were expecting. So, I designed our pregnancy announcements for moms-to-be who wanted a fun way to spread the news. They are perfect for sending to old college friends, relatives and work colleagues. Finding out you are pregnant is such an exciting time – and it is wonderful to be able to share your joy with others.”

No matter how you announce your exciting news, brace yourself for a lot of emails, notes and phone calls from excited loved ones. Have fun sharing this special time and write a little note to your baby that tells the story of how you announced his or her arrival.
