Author John Benjamin Sciarra is a proud winner of the 2005 Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award for his children’s book, Shoestrings—No Time For Dinosaurs. The Parent to Parent Wisdom Award is the only award program honored by Disney.com.

According to Jodie Lynn, syndicated parenting/health expert, Parent to Parent CEO and founder of the Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award and author of family/health book, Mommy—CEO, says “Moms, dads and kids love this book. Shoestrings—No Time For Dinosaurs, is like a mini drama including dinosaurs, time capsules, fire, a shoe string and plenty more. We found the kids wanting to read it over and over.”

The Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award is given to products or books that meet stringent standards. According to the organization’s web site, the award was established in 1997 to honor products of outstanding quality that support family values. Adding Wisdom Award committees are comprised of experts from across the United States who are involved with children on a daily basis. These committees look for products that entertain, teach and inspire imagination and creativity. Additionally, the committees are interested in how products help children grow ethically, socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically. After the committees approve products, they are given to Family Testers, real families, for evaluation before final decisions are reached.

Shoestrings—No Time For Dinosaurs encourages children to explore the things around them and view the world, indeed the universe, in new and fascinating ways. Shoestrings helps children in dealing with the nuances of time, string theory, music, paleontology and even family relationships. Sciarra’s own unique background as the former Curator of Exhibits and Husbandry at a major public aquarium and a musician since his pre-teen years inspired him to write the novel. “I wanted to write a novel that children just couldn’t put down. I wanted them to have the same passion for learning about the wonderful world around them in unique and unusual ways,” says Sciarra.

Shoestrings can be purchased at all online venues and is available at bookstores including Borders.
