From Purebreds to Puggles - New Online Store for Dog Lovers

New “designer breeds” like Labradoodles and Puggles are all the rage, so one entrepreneur launches an online dog breed logo gift store featuring purebreds and designer mutts alike.

Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) December 2, 2005 -- There is a new web site for dog lovers at http://www.DoodleSport.com. The site features embroidered dog breed images on apparel and accessories, including dog stockings for the holidays. The site also offers new “designer breed” logos such as labradoodles (Labrador/Poodle mix) and puggles (pug/beagle).

Amy Vansant Brunell, CEO of the Maryland-based web development firm Vansant Creations, adopted a labradoodle (Labrador/Poodle mix) this past summer and found there were few places to find “doodle” logo items. No stranger to ecommerce, Ms. Brunell created DoodleSport.com to fill this new gap in the market place.

“I’d been wanting to do an ecommerce site of my own for a while and this just seemed like the perfect opportunity,” said Ms. Brunell. “The new mixed breeds are getting extremely popular and of course there are plenty of dog lovers crazy about their purebreds, too.”

In addition, there was another gap in the market Ms. Brunell wanted to correct.

“Most pet logo items are big and cartoony,” said Ms. Brunell. “I wanted to do more subtle logos that would look appropriate on golf course type polos.”

The site is adding items daily. Currently the focus is on clothes for people, but clothes for the pets themselves were recently added.

“Currently most of the items are custom embroidery; you can change the color of the thread as needed to reflect your pet and you can add the dog’s name beneath the logo,” said Ms. Brunell. “If none of the current logos quite match your pet we’ll even digitize the photo of your unique mixed-breed for embroidery.”
