Working at Home Changed One Couples' Lives
Over the years Allen and Patti have spent most of their lives working for someone else. Now, they work for themselves and have the freedom they always wanted.
(PRWEB) December 10, 2005 -- Allen and Patti met just 8 years ago at the top of the Hilton on a hot July evening. They were living life as divorced single parents who had each reached a set of customized goals in finding their future spouses. It really wasn't as though they were cruising that night for their soulmate but as it turned out they did find each other. This relationship did not run smoothly but as time went on it became better and better. Allen and Patti both say this because they came from two entirely different backgrounds and there is a 10 year difference in age. (Patti's the older one.) Allen's background was that his family had the #1 meat cutting school in our country for 26 years and Patti had formerly co-owned Denny's franchises.
Allen & Patti were married in 1999; two years after they had met. Within six months they had started a property management business. Allen and Patti had bought an apartment building in the thick of a low-income high crime area. Soon after they had bought their buildings the police department threatened to confiscate the buildings because the different owners in this complex refused to take care of serious problems. However, it really was Allen and Patti who had helped initiate this meeting in order to bring control to this area. The police department could not continue to send police officers out to the complex.
After investing time and cash into this money pit, the Shirks were then introduced to the idea of applying for grants which could assist them in acquiring surrounding buildings and to rehabilitate what they had. The Shirk's composed their grant application, gave a presentation to the Grant Committee and to the City Council. They had letters of reference from their Police Chief and various city departments. Allen and Patti were awarded the first ever For- Profit Grant in their local city. This was big news in their town. They used the grant money and for two years the rehabilitating continued. The Shirk's struggled with crooked contractors, budget matters and the most tragic of all their young friend who later became the best and most honest contractor they ever had died tragically on Allen 's birthday December 8, 2004. He was killed while crossing a railroad track. The Shirk's know it sounds odd but he was so busy and pressed for time and because he thought the crossing arm was down due to another train parked by the arm that he crossed over into his untimely death. This event also changed the Shirk's lives. They had gone through so much with their properties that Quanah's death took the wind out of Allen & Patti's sails. The Shirk's needed a change, a positive change.
Allen & Patti also realized that they would always be fighting an uphill battle to gain control of the apartment complex. So, when Allen read an advertisement regarding an opportunity to work from home he responded to this ad. And it was this home business that presented a "light at the end of the tunnel" for them. The positive atmosphere, exotic locations which they all meet for conference/vacations is something they look forward to. Allen & Patti are meeting like-minded people. They truly are an extended family to them. They have met inspirational people who have written best-seller books of real substance. It's the kind of subject matter that we can all apply in our lives; to learn and improve each of our lives. The Shirk's have been to Puerto Rico, Cancun, and in Phoenix, Arizona. In August Allen and Patti jumped out of an airplane. "You can do anything that you put your mind to. You know that don't you?" says Patti.
The Shirk's are being taught this business by extremely successful people. They have personal relationships with these people. The philosophy of this company is centered around more time with family and friends and less time working. No company can compare to what they are doing now. Allen and Patti can vouch for that because they have owned different businesses and held different job titles. There is nothing that compares to this home business. They love it.
