Jack Aranson served a two year apprenticeship at the Old Vic.He toured Ireland in many Shakespearean roles in a different play every night. Jack went to New York to play in King Lear with Orson Wells. Jack was director of Shakespeare at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Famous people who have been drawn to do a production of Moby Dick include John Barrymore, John Huston, and Orson Wells. Jack Barrymore filmed Moby Dick twice, once as The Sea Beast. Orson Wells did a stage play called Moby Dick Rehearsed. Herman Melville has often been called American's Shakespeare.
