This Year "Santa Takes A Holiday!" - Author T. L. Jones Re-Invents Santa, Inspired by Hawaii, Death and the Victims of Katrina

“Forget Santa as we’ve known him for so long. Santa’s headed to the Tropics. Santa has quit or he’s retired, he doesn’t know which. I think I’ve re-invented Santa, maybe a Santa for the new millennium, though that wasn’t my intention."

(PRWEB) December 7, 2005 -- Inspired by Hawaii, death of family members and New Orleans Katrina victims, author T. L. Jones re-invents Santa in new book… "Santa Takes A Holiday!"

Forget Santa as we’ve known him for so long. Santa’s headed to the Tropics. Santa has quit or he’s retired, he doesn’t know which. I think I’ve re-invented Santa, maybe a Santa for the new millennium, though that wasn’t my intention.

I started out with a simple story inspired by Hawaii’s culture and beauty, however, the story took on a deeper meaning after I had to deal with losing people I loved, including my Dad, but I was worried no one would appreciate a Santa book that includes grieving. Then, when I was done, the people of New Orleans were so hard hit by Katrina, I found I had to be brave about it and I added more about starting over. Santa has to overcome grief, adversity, disillusionment before he can have fun again.

I think any child over six can understand, the whole story rhymes. Santa has to start fresh, make new friends, renew his spirit for living and giving; re-invent himself you could say. Of course, not everyone can go to Hawaii, but everyone can take a holiday, even if it’s just getting out to see trees or going to the library. The book is an adventure with Santa and other surprising characters, so be prepared for some surfing and some Ho, Ho, Ho'ing!”

EXCERPT:
Suddenly, Santa was seized by a strange sensation. . . Could he possibly be thinking of taking a vacation?

“Should I throw caution to the wind, leave responsibilities behind, come what may?” Santa wondered. “Why yes! It’s high time, ‘Santa takes a holiday!’”…

That’s just what I need, he told himself. Some time off, to collect my thoughts.

I’ll rest, I’ll relax, I’ll go recreating. I do need a break from all this hectic toy-creating!
