If These Walls Could Talk…Hotel’s Murals Bring Glen Rose’s Past to the Present

Famed western artist Stylle Read to begin work on commemorative historical murals in Glen Rose, TX.

(PRWEB) December 6, 2005 -- The Best Western Dinosaur Valley Inn and Suites in Glen Rose, TX (www.glenrosearea.com) has commissioned nationally renowned western artist Stylle Read to paint murals depicting the heritage of the historic town on the walls of the hotel. Anchoring the theme of the murals will be a 1920s scene of the Somervell County courthouse, which was constructed in 1894 during what is commonly referred to as the Golden Era of courthouse building. The courthouse mural will provide visitors and townspeople a glimpse into life in Glen Rose some 80 years ago.

A second mural will feature a scene illustrating Glen Rose’s past, present and future. The past will be reflected in a group of cowboys pushing a herd of cattle across a dinosaur track laden Paluxy river bottom, while the present and future will be represented by the oil rigs predicted to dot the landscape in Somervell County as part of the lucrative Barnett Shale play. A third mural will be an improvised creation by Mr. Read that will also have historical significance to the town, but remains a secret, even to the owner of the hotel.

“We and the community have a lot of pride in Glen Rose and are excited about the opportunity to memorialize the heritage of the town,” states the hotel’s owner. “In the nearly 6 years the hotel has been here, the people of Glen Rose have fully supported us and this is just another way we can show our appreciation and respect to the community”.

The murals are scheduled for completion in mid December 2005.

Mr. Read (www.stylleread.com) has an extensive 25-year background of paintings and murals ranging from set design, exteriors, interiors and advertising art. His artwork can bee seen on buildings ranging from banks to restaurants to museums to hotels and even major airports.
