Scooop.net, a next-generation media site based on democratic voting principles and active participation of its members, released the results of its weekly hot topic poll regarding the nation’s view on the War on Terror and our efforts in Iraq. Three out of four Americans support the aggressive use of the Patriot Act to stop terrorist activity at home. Scooop.net conducted its “Hot Topic” study to gauge the level of support that Americans possess regarding the War on Terror and the efforts in Iraq.

When surveyed about how they would best characterize the war in Iraq, the most popular response was that the war that was necessary because we couldn’t afford to have terrorists harbored and aided by Saddam Hussein. One out of three Americans expressed this view, while 27.9% stated that the war effort was draining resources from the real War on Terror and that the war in Iraq may not be winnable.

When asked how they felt about the progress on the War on Terror and whether we are succeeding, thirty five percent of those surveyed said that the effort has not been as successful as it should have been, and 31.4% stated that the War on Terror has been somewhat successful but there is much more to do.

The survey responses that surprised Scooop.net the most revolved around long term support for the War on Terror. When questioned about how long one was prepared to support the War on Terror, forty seven percent of those surveyed stated “as long as it takes.” A surprising 36.4% no longer support the War on Terror. This negative view can be attributed to the fact that nearly one out of two Americans feel that the War on Terror has been sidetracked in Iraq, and we are creating more terrorists there than we are getting rid of.

Scooop.net was launched to give the public at large a voice in what news they feel is important, and to provide a platform for Americans to clearly voice their opinions about the important issues of the day. Each week, a new topic selected from the news headlines is identified and voted on by Scooop.net members.

Next week’s hot topic will revolve around the exploding online gaming industry, and whether U.S. casinos are being treated unfairly by law makers who are prohibiting them from operating in this lucrative industry. Scooop.net will also attempt to find out how individuals view the online gaming business. Ever since CBS’ 60 Minute’s recent broadcast on the subject of online gaming, the subject has come up in the conversations of many Americans.

Scooop.net was created and launched by In Touch Media Group, Inc. which is an online marketing and public relations firm which specializes in generating website visitors, and customers for its business clients using a combination of effective systems, including search engine advertising, publicity, and other marketing services.
