Shoosmiths Finds Flexibility in BigHand3 Roll Out
National law firm Shoosmiths has rolled out the new version of BigHand’s digital dictation workflow technology, BigHand3, to over 300 staff across their Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Nottingham, Reading and Solent offices. Shoosmiths was one of the first law firms in the UK to implement the new release of the product, which the firm has implemented as a leap forward in terms of managing dictation.

Shoosmiths was one of the first law firms in the UK to implement the new release of the product, which the firm has implemented as a leap forward in terms of managing dictation.
The BigHand3 roll out has improved day-to-day efficiency, reduced overheads, and enhanced client service levels overall.
Louise Savage, Project Manager at Shoosmiths was responsible for the roll out:
“We implemented digital dictation in a carefully planned programme and in collaboration with BigHand, who worked with us to resolve the minor issues as quickly as possible.
“Digital dictation allows work to be managed in a more visible way with easier distribution and faster completion. It has enabled our partners to work more flexibly from different locations with the work still being completed by their own secretaries. We have found the interface easy to use and the clearer sound quality has won the respect of all our lawyers and support staff.”
Andy Wilkinson, Business Services Manager at Shoosmiths, was responsible for reviewing all of the available products. He comments: “Shoosmiths ran a full market review of all available products before taking the two leading systems, BigHand3 and Winscribe, onto a head-to-head product analysis phase. BigHand3 was the only product that satisfied Shoosmiths’ extensive feature and architecture requirements. We also preferred the fact that BigHand developers are based in the UK, rather than New Zealand, and that BigHand had more experience with Top-100 law firms than all the other DDS suppliers combined. Our secretaries have found the product to be quite intuitive and liked it straight away.”
BigHand3 has been designed to accommodate many different requirements – no matter what workflow, priority, integration, platform or remote working capability a firm is considering – whilst integrating a high level of performance and stability. There are no limits in terms of workflow - which is one of the areas in which many DDS products can be quite restrictive.
