Suwanee, GA (PRWEB) December 8, 2005 -- The Suwanee Sports Academy has announced the addition of four-time NBA All-Star Mark Price to its coaching staff. The 12-year NBA veteran and former Georgia Tech standout, joins SSA as a Master Coach in the On Court Player Developmentsm program and will also be the academy’s shooting specialist.

“We are excited to have Mark join our coaching staff not only because of what he accomplished as a basketball player but even more importantly because of the character and values he brings to us as a person,” commented Kevin Cantwell, Director of Basketball at SSA. “Our basketball programs at SSA really stress the importance of fundamentals and to have someone that built a successful NBA career on the fundamentals of the game as a part of our coaching staff will give our athletes the opportunity to learn from one of the best.”

Price’s shooting philosophy will not only be instilled in the athletes who are a part of the On Court Player Developmentsm program but will touch all phases of SSA’s basketball programs through shooting clinics, speciality camps and all professional coaches on the SSA staff.

“Both of my sons are enrolled in the On Court Player Developmentsm program and it’s exciting to know that not only will I have the opportunity to help them develop as basketball players but will also be able to impact many other young players in the Atlanta-area,” expressed Price, whose .904 free throw percentage stands as the NBA’s best of all-time. “I have been able to watch the development of the On Court program over the last year and I realized that this really is something special. Now, to be able to be a part of it is great.”

The Enid, Oklahoma native spent most of his NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers and finished his professional career with more than 10,000 points and hitting better than 40 percent from behind the 3-point arc before retiring in 1998. Price was also recently elected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
