Full Sail is proud to announce that 2001 Film Graduate, Darren Lynn Bousman, just closed a two-picture deal with Dimension Films.
Bousman shook the industry with his first major motion picture release, Saw II, which hit #1 at the Box Office in October 2005. Now he has the opportunity to gain further success with Dimension Films after signing a new deal with them earlier this month.
Bob Weinstein and Richard Saperstein of Dimension Films took interest after the startling success of SAW II, and are anxious to work with Bousman on future projects. “This is a remarkable step” said Dave Franko, Full Sail’s Program Director for the Film Department. “As demanding as our Film Program is here at Full Sail, I’m sure Darren is proud of all the hard work he tirelessly put into it."
Mark Burg, Oren Koules and Greg Hoffman, principals of Twisted Pictures and Producers of Saw II, called on Dimension Films to help Bousman’s career acquire additional exposure. The three will produce Bousman’s next two projects, but have decided to not go with the Twisted name. They strongly feel Bousman is qualified enough to go beyond their upper-budget limit of $10 million per movie. “What an incredible goal to accomplish," Franko added. "Darren has come a long way since graduating in 2001.”
