John Lennon's Death Memorialized by Atlanta Global Peace Project
John Lennon was assassinated 25 years ago. Many peace-cultivating nonprofits worldwide have been inspired John & Yoko's peace activism, Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter in Atlanta being one of them. Peace-lovers around the Earth, to honor John Lennon, are reminded to "Imagine all the people living life in peace".
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) December 26, 2005 -- John Randolph Naugle, co-founder for the new international nonprofit: Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter, is asking peace-lovers from around the Earth to remember the inspiring, courageous example of peace-lover: John Winston Ono Lennon (October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980). Mr. Lennon was best known as a singer for The Beatles. His creative career also included the role of Peace-activist. His song "Imagine" is often ranked among the best in music history ("Imagine all the people living life in peace..."). In 1969 John and Yoko (knowing their March 20, marriage would be a global press event) held a two-week "Peace Bed-In" and used the publicity to promote world peace [“Imagine” Ultradisc-Gold CD (NOW available) at www.mofi.com, and benefiting Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter.
Mr. Naugle states: "We can still learn a great deal from John & Yoko. I am still personally inspired by their "global peace action" and now urgently ask peace-lovers around the Earth to please assist us with renaming "The World's Biggest & Busiest Airport" (Atlanta). On Thursday-December 8th (John Lennon's 25th Anniversary Memorial) Mr. Naugle invited all the members of the media to join him in Atlanta's Woodruff Park (in front of the Phoenix Rising Sculpture) when he announced their nonprofit's goals for 2006. Their work in ongoing… He proclaimed:
"To honor the great memory of John Lennon's inspiring life (and all peace-lovers no longer with us) we are inviting peace-lovers around the Earth to sign & forward our Global Internet Peace Petition at: www.GKC-Airport.com. We want to honor 3 of history's MOST internationally accomplished, respected, and well-known Nobel Peace Prize Laureates with a new name at "The World's Biggest Airport" (Atlanta). We feel that John Lennon would be very proud & supportive of our goal to honor Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, and President Jimmy Carter. Please help us to rename The World's Biggest Airport: "Gandhi-King-Carter International Airport" (individuals from 37 states & 46 countries have ALREADY signed).
The nonprofit: Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter, is also working to WIN on its historic proposal to Sir Richard Branson & Virgin Galactic. Mr. Naugle proclaims: "Sir Branson, Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter need YOU and Virgin Galactic to be our nonprofit's "1st Official Corporate Sponsor". On January 1, 2008 (the International One Day In Peace Celebration: www.OneDay.net) we want YOU to launch your "World's 1st Spaceline" (www.VirginGalactic.com) from "The World's Biggest Airport." Will YOU please help us to rename it in honor of 3 internationally accomplished & respected Nobel Peace Prize Laureates? Your historic maiden-flight Jan. 1, 2008 should carry a courageous precedent… a Peace Flag that nurtures the health of our entire global family. This is (after all) the 1st Decade of a New Century. We are IN the New Millennium (Years 2000-3000) and therefore, we gotta set some precedents, yes? John Lennon said: "Give Peace a chance!" And Sir Bob Geldof proclaimed the importance of peace VERY well on the LIVE 8 Stage before 2.5 Billion viewers: "Mahatma Gandhi freed a continent, Martin Luther King freed a people, and Nelson Mandela freed a country. It does work. They will listen!" And Dr. Martin Luther King proclaimed: "Peace is the sweeter music, a cosmic melody…"
Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter is inviting Nelson Mandela, Yoko Ono, Desmond Tutu, and Bono to Atlanta next Aug. 28 for their Global “See-Peace" Concert. We want them (and many other globally respected peace-lovers) to publicly explain how Dr. King's world-famous speech "I Have A Dream" has inspired them. We're asking peace-lovers worldwide to help us create: "The Peace Mandaéla: Ono-Tutu-Bono" (an new symbol for peace meditation). And regarding Yoko, Friends of GKC wants to provide her with a global forum whereby she can further develop/announce the: "Oct. 9… Imagine John Lennon Day- An International Holiday Celebrating Peace And Love".
Here are the details about the Aug. 28, 2006 "Global See-Peace" Concert: www.See-Peace.org. Aside from filling the Georgia World Congress Center, we also want to transform Freedom Park in a global manner (with an internationally respected production of Art). We need everyone to assist Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter in pitching & closing on our proposal to Christo who brought “The Gates” to New York City. To celebrate August 28 properly (another Anniversary of Dr. King’s world-famous speech: “I Have A Dream”) we would like globally respected artist, Christo, to do something VERY similar in Atlanta’s- Freedom Park. However, instead of using orange cloth, we are proposing that he use “Peace-Blue”. Christo’s- “The Gates” was a phenomenal success. New York City’s Economic Development Corporation predicted it would bring an $80 million economic impact to the city, but when the “results arrived” it was more like $250 Million! And because Dr. King has implored us to remember Gandhi, our proposal to Christo is to call the art-project “The Way” which refers to Gandhi’s quote (and Deepak Chopra’s book):
“There is no way to peace. Peace is the way!”
To launch into all of these historic peace-plans listed above, Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter is NOW proposing that R.E.M. (one of the world's greatest Rock Bands) to PLEASE assist with co-founding our global peace project (their response is forthcoming). When wonderful providence smiles upon this "Peace-Loving Non-Profit Inspired By John Lennon" then there will be a February 14th Press Conference/announcement on top of "The World's Tallest Hotel" (www.Westin.com/Peachtree). From this GREAT height (The World's Tallest Hotel) one may literally view: "The World's Biggest Airport", CNN International, "The World's Biggest Aquarium", all of Atlanta, and most of Georgia. And figuratively one may also cultivate a peaceful vision for our entire global family. February 14th would be ideal for R.E.M.'s announcement of support because this is not only Valentine’s Day but also “I Love Peace Day” which will soon to be celebrated by 1000 organizations in almost 140 nations.
Atlanta is already home to 3 internationally respected 'Centers of Peace Education'. The Gandhi Foundation USA, The King Center, and The Carter Center. Millions from around the Earth love these Peacemakers, Gandhi-King-Carter. "Blessed are the Peacemakers". In addition, Atlanta is home to three Nobel Peace Prize Nominees: Senator Sam Nunn, Dr. John Endicott, and Ted Turner (we are well qualified to become "Atlanta: City of Peace"?
Uniting peace-lovers from around the Earth on the www.GKC-Airport.com Peace Petition will RENAME “The World’s Biggest Airport” and honor 3 of history's MOST internationally accomplished Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, PLUS we can educate about cultivating Global Peace! Mr. Naugle states: “Please assist us to inspire the 700+ organizations registered with ‘The United Nation's International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence’ (2001-2010): www.Decade-Culture-of-Peace.org. Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter is onboard this Peace-Way”…
Gandhi-King-Carter International Airport will have 100+ Million visitors in 2006, therefore we are well-prepared to inspire the 1,036 cities (from 112 countries and regions) that are registered with Global Mayors for Peace: www.MayorsforPeace.org ...
Gandhi-King-Carter International Airport will also inspire the many countries & individuals sustaining the goals of the VERY exciting: International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT): www.iipt.org. Gandhi-King-Carter International Airport will also inspire the 200+ countries and the thousands of international athletes that endorse The Olympic Movement: www.OlympicMovement.com (note: the ceremonial lighting of Olympic Torch makes an appeal for an Olympic Truce & Peace)…
Gandhi-King-Carter International Airport will also inspire the millions of peace-lovers of the Earth (past & present) who have sacrificed to further the important cause of global peace. On December 8, 1980 (25 years ago) internationally respected peace-activist John Lennon was shot dead as he returned to his New York apartment from a recording session. Imagine this FACT… there have been numerous peace-lovers stopped cold with bullets so that WE can better understand the GREAT importance there is to cultivating peace. Mahatma Gandhi, Abe Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King, and others have also been shot down. Will WE forget & ignore their contributions & sacrifices?
