Legendary Academy Award and Golden Globe Winning Actress, Karen Black, in One Woman Show
Legendary Academy Award and Golden Globe Winning Actress Karen Black in one woman show for two nights only -- A View of the Heart.
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) December 8, 2005 -- Legendary actress, Karen Black (Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Day of The Locust) brings her acclaimed one-woman show, "A View of the Heart" for two nights only, December 9th and 10th at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, California.
Black delivers a collection of glimpses into the lives of American women, from a poor black Mississippi Delta woman to a would-be wealthy divorcee to a mother who has lost her son. Lending her distinctly personal singing style to music from Rodgers & Hart, Bessie Smith, David Bowie, Kris Kristofferson and others. The show includes stand-up literature from American greats Katherine Anne Porter and William Faulkner.
“The diversity and range of Black’s past roles on stage and screen do not begin to suggest the authority, pathos and humor this woman brings to what is modestly called a one-woman show.” – Octavio Rova, S.F. Chronicle
“The 90 minute show is a mix of spoken word and song, comedy and tragedy, cabaret and dramatic theater – and Black makes it work seamlessly. In a recent New York visit audiences demanded two standing ovations – if you missed it, you missed out.” – Jessica Cogan, New York Cool
“Her voice is a revelation” – L.A. Times
“She possesses enormous range and lung power. She also exhibits a wicked sense of humor.” – LA Weekly “Pick of the Week”
A limited number of tickets are available for a reception following the show on Saturday and Sunday’s closing show.
