Chicago Korean Television Station WOCH-LP, Known As KBC-TV, Changing Channels from Channel 28 to Channel 41 Starting December 29, 2005.

Due to current FCC rules and regulations WOCH-LP, Channel 28, Chicago, Illinois, has been displaced by a digital television station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that is on the same channel. We have taken steps over the last several years to prevent this occurrence with no success. As a result, we are forced to change and have selected a new channel, Channel 41. We will begin installation of the equipment to facilitate this change starting December 19, 2005 and expect to be off the air through December 29, 2005.

The coverage of the new channel will not be as extensive as our current coverage area and we have an application on file with the FCC (File No. BPTTA-20050127ALO) to expand this to duplicate the coverage we now enjoy. Our viewers can contact the FCC to request that they grant our application so WOCH will be able to better serve their communities. Details on where to write letters can be found on our web site, http://www.kbctvusa.com

One benefit of the channel change is that WOCH will gain what is called “Class A” status. This “Class A” status gives the new channel most of the protections of a full power television station. This means that no other station should be able to displace us and require this hardship again. Our call sign will then be WOCH-CA.
