Popular 1/2 Hour Show Set to Shoot its 100th Episode, Volunteers Needed
Public access cable show is local favorite and an odd phenomenon.
Hudson, OH (PRWEB) December 11, 2005 -- The popular Hudson cable access television program, The ½ Hour Show is set to shoot its 100th episode on Saturday, December 17th at noon and the general public is invited to participate. For those familiar with it, the show offers a unique look at the community of Hudson, Ohio from behind the backs of its two hosts sitting in multicolored lawn chairs. It’s been described as amusing yet deep in a weird sort of way.
Recording is set to occur at The Barlow Community Center and volunteers are needed for the episode’s unique 100th episode celebration concept. Plans call for the two ½ Half Hour Show guys to take their places on the stage with the camera set up behind them as usual. Then interested participants will fill in the audience and ask questions of both the left chaired and right chaired hosts of their choosing. While not required, attendees are also asked to bring a $2.00 donation for Relay for Life. Doors for the event will open at 11:30 a.m.
“We’ll even have an opportunity either during or after the shooting for photos and autographs, assuming anyone would interest in such a thing,” said Christopher Dolciato, the shows producer and one of its two stars.
In its simplest form, the show watches life in the Hudson Community a half hour at a time. The hosts sit in their lawnchairs with their backs to the camera and watch whatever is put in from of them. They do not talk to each other but do respond to any one or anything who happens to talk to them. Throughout the years (it’s in its ninth season) the show has featured such favorite episodes as the lawnmower ballet, the opening of the new post office, Yule Really be Roasting (the Christmas fireplace logs on TV) and more. Proof of its popularity can be found in the fact that both the left chaired and right chaired hosts have been featured in a local window painting contest, been guests on A Good Day in Hudson, featured on WEWS Channel 5 News and more. True to form, all appearances were also featured as half hour show episodes (the channel five news one was captured live as Channel 5 featured them on the news). The shows producers had even been contacted by Dateline NBC (although it never turned into an appearance) and mentioned in a popular online comic strip.
“We really hopes folks do come out and help us celebrate our 100th episode,” said Dolciato. “We might even have cake. Regardless we are consistently stopped one on one with questions and we thought this would be a great opportunity to get them all down on camera.”
The Barlow Community Center is located on Oviatt Street in Hudson.
The ½ Hour Show is a Hudson Public Access cable show and can be viewed on Hudson Cable channel 25, which can be viewed in six different communities in the Adelphia Cable area.
