A strong advocate of the power of the mind, Mary Desaulniers Ph.D has spent the last 30 years learning about the dynamics of the Quantum Universe and new developments in mind-body connection. She is pleased to see that what used to be called "mystical" or "paranormal" is now acknowledged as part of everyday reality.

“I have been a strong believer in the power of the mind for 28 years—ever since I decided to lose the 45 pounds I gained after the birth of my first child.” she explained.

The weight made her realize that (a) she could do nothing and just accept the idea that weight gain was part of motherhood or (b) she could do something to create the body and life she deserved.

“That’s when I did 3 things all at once: I stopped smoking cold turkey; I started running several days a week; I cut down my food intake,” she said. “Within a year, I was back to a size 4.”

What she learnt from re-inventing herself in 1978 became the cornerstone of her life. She learned to focus on the reality she wanted to create; it was the intensity of this focus that gave her the strength to stick to her program. “There were many times when I felt this program was useless, or I would question why I was doing it, but I kept on because the vision of what it will be like after I have reached a certain milestone became more meaningful than staying in a rut.”

This approach helped her complete her doctoral studies at age 40—with 2 children and a full-time job in tow. It helped her complete and publish a book. It helped her again when her husband passed away and she had to re-create herself and her identity as a widow. It helped her as well to restructure her business so that it was more in tune with her desire to empower women in body and spirit while at the same time allowing her the freedom to travel and write. Recently, when she started putting on weight during menopause, she used the same approach to bring herself back to a comfortable size.

“Having a Great Body after 50 is not getting a 30 year old body back. It is creating a body that is well-nourished, well-exercised, well-read, well-inspired and well-loved in all senses of the word!”
