SwitchBooksNow.com announces the launch of its eBay-like online marketplace that proactively matches wants and needs of college students looking to buy, sell, or trade their textbooks and anything else. A division of Matchbin.com, SwitchBooksNow has the advantage of providing an effective community based system that also links its members to a larger global network.
SwitchBooksNow is powered by Matchbin’s Activematch™ technology, allowing users to create a list of goods and services they have to sell and/or want to buy. The system then proactively searches those “haves” and “wants” within the global Matchbin network. When a match is made the buyer and seller are alerted, and can then trade, buy or sell on whatever terms they see fit. Matches are listed geographically so that the closest match appears first. The community focus of SwitchBooksNow reduces or eliminates shipping costs by creating a localized trading environment.
Currently, SwitchBooksNow allows users to trade, buy and sell for free. This no fee option will allow members to list three haves and an unlimited number of wants.
Within two week’s of introducing the site to other students at Boise State University, with a few flyers and an article in the school newspaper, over fifty students have signed up. By providing only a user name, email address and zip code students are now actively trading with each other.
“I was matched with a student that wanted one of the books on my list,” said Kip Kugler co-founder of SwitchBooksNow. “That student offered to pay more than the bookstore would and got a great deal on a needed textbook.” Kugler believes the technology of Matchbin will greatly influence the future of E-Commerce.
