Recent EPOP successes include: creating Nelson Mandela’s global concert “46664” to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS. The Capetown South Africa concert was broadcast to over a billion people worldwide via MTV, BBC and CNN on World AIDS Day – December 1, 2003, and featured performances by Bono, Beyonce, Queen, The Corrs, Peter Gabriel and The Eurythmics. It is hailed as the most significant HIV/AIDS initiative to date. EPOP created messaging which allowed President Mandela to re-frame the AIDS crisis by declaring "AIDS is no longer just a disease, it is a human rights issue."
On June 7, 2005 EPOP created and produced the Anne Frank 75th Birthday Tribute in New York City. Performers included Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Gere, Natalie Portman, Laura Linney, Lou Reed and Cyndi Lauper. Event Chairs included President Jimmy Carter, President Bill Clinton, Senator Hillary R. Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, Senator Robert Dole and Miep Gies, 96, the woman who hid the Frank family for two years and found Anne’s Diary. At the event the inaugural "Human Writes Award" was given posthumously to Arthur Miller by Buddy Elias, Anne Frank’s cousin and only living family member. Robert Miller accepted the award on behalf of his father. This award will be presented annually to writers of distinction who promote social justice.
On May 4, 2005 EPOP provided Yoko Ono with an opportunity to address the General Assembly of the United Nations during the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty Review Conference. She spoke on behalf of the Mayors for Peace, an organization that consists of 1200 Mayors from 110 countries led by Hiroshima mayor Tadatoshi Akiba. The previous day, EPOP and the Mayors for Peace produced a benefit art auction with Christie's Auction House which benefited Nihon Hidankyo, a nominee for the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize.
Recently, EPOP was selected by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to create and produce the annual event “Above & Beyond." This event will take place in Washington DC and honors those who have received our nations highest honor for their ultimate acts of valor.
