Stevens Hospital President and CEO Announces Success of Cost Containment Strategies

The President and CEO of Stevens Hospital, John Todd, MD, leads the way in a successful campaign to reduce hospital expenditures, increase profit, improve patient care and staff safety.

Edmonds, WA (PRWEB) December 14, 2005 -- Without any capital investment, hospital staff impact or compromising of patient safety, Stevens Hospital, by adopting the latest in high-level disinfection (HLD) reprocessing technology, has reduced their medical device expenditures by up to 75% while substantially reducing hospital medical waste.

“When it comes to health care, good information is the key to making the right decision. At Stevens Hospital, patient safety and quality care delivery is our top priority,” said John Todd, MD, President, and CEO at Stevens Hospital. “Our physicians and hospital staff continually strive to improve care by aiming to make it safe, effective and centered on our patients. Our decision to adopt high-level disenfection reprocessing versus sterilization is an endorsement of our continued commitment to reducing cost and environmental waste, while improving patient and staff safety.”

Our physicians and hospital staff continually strive to improve care by aiming to make it safe, effective and centered on our patients. Our decision to adopt high-level disenfection reprocessing versus sterilization is an endorsement of our continued commitment to reducing cost and environmental waste, while improving patient and staff safety.
From an economic and environmental prospective, high-level disinfection (HLD) reprocessing and not sterilization for selected single use (non and semi critical) medical devices is the wise choice. As a non-toxic, environmentally friendly process, high-level disinfection provides an additional margin of safety for both the patients and hospital staff.

“Stevens Hospital, as a member of Hospital Shared Services Association (HSSA), was able to access a contracted price for the reprocessing of single use medical devices,” said Maureen Navarez, Purchasing Manager at Stevens Hospital. “The economic advantages of a contracted price from ReNu Medical made switching to high-level disinfection reprocessing, in the best interest of our facility. We were looking for a company that would provide us with high quality products, service, clinical expertise, and fast device turn around time to help us better control our inventory. ReNu Medical has exceeded all of our expectations.”

“Adopting programs like reprocessing of single use medical devices from ReNu Medical, demonstrates just one of the many key healthcare costs we are working to improve. At Stevens Hospital, we are very proud of the quality of care and products we provide,” said John Todd, MD.
