Freebirds World Burrito to Adopt Komodo Dragon

Freebirds World Burrito is adopting a Komodo dragon at the Fort Worth Zoo.

(PRWEB) December 14, 2005 -- Freebirds World Burrito, the Texas-based fresh fast casual restaurant known for its Monster burritos, announced today their plans to adopt a Komodo dragon. The Fort Worth Zoo, which houses one of the world's largest lizard and Jurassic Park wannabe, will allow Freebirds to “adopt” the Komodo and contribute to its care and feeding for one full year.

Funds for the Fort Worth Komodo dragon will be raised through customer donations at the company’s Ridge Rock location in Fort Worth located at 4965 Overton Ridge Boulevard in Fort Worth. Currently, there are two Komodo Dragons at the Fort Worth Zoo.

"The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the top zoos in the country and the Komodo dragon is a fascinating creature," said Alan Hixon, COO of Freebirds World Burrito. "Ironically, we’re eating Monsters to feed a monster."

Komodo dragons can reach lengths of more than ten feet and weigh over 300 pounds. The average size for males is eight to nine feet and about 200 pounds. The Komodo’s enjoys weekly feedings of a carnivorous diet.
